"After years of riding a triple-crank mountain bike for all applications, I decided it was time to take my act to the road - I test rode many competitive brands and numerous price points, but could not find a bike that would stand up to Trek's Madone 4.7 for what I need! The SRAM components work like a dream, and the double-tap shifting system is a breeze once you get used to it (it's actually much more intuitive than other permutations). The breaks are a solid upgrade from the lesser models, and all of the SRAM performance upgrades are well worth the expense. I'll be looking to upgrade the wheels and the saddle after my first season of riding this bike, but that is just a personal preference thing - I could not say one negative thing about this bike, it is a dream come true for any aspiring century rider, racer or serious trainer!"

"Dude, what size is your bike in that picture?"
"I ride on rough roads with some traffic - both level and uphill. So, I prefer the straight handlebar. I was originally considering a 7.9 FX, but was disappointed with it's looks. The 4.7 had the right geometry to be able to change the drop handlebar to a straight one (because of higher head tube). Believe it or not, the 4.7 is one of the best looking Madones out there - the white, red and black graphics are awesome (and better than some of the more expensive madones). No one passes by without remarking about it's looks and coolness. The bike is light (18 Lbs), rides very smooth and has all ultegra components. The shifters are super smooth. The bike has compact crank - suitable for quick acceleration and hill climbing. To make this bike even more useful for uphill climbs, I changed the default rear cassette from 11-25 to 11-28. This change has tremendously changed the bike's dynamics for tough uphill climbs. The range of gears I get now, is almost as good as a triple crank. Here is a handy gear ratio calculator > [@] changed the tyres to 28 mm to handle the rough roads - and Voila - I now have a super duper Hybrid bike! One last point - The guys at Atlanta Cycling, Vinings, are a superb bunch. They did a very thorough job of fitting me right. They offered to change several components of equivalent value without any additional charges. They listen to your needs, and suggest the right bike and componentry. It was 'Service with a Smile' all the way through. If I am one hell of a happy Trek Customer today, the credit goes to Todd, Mike and their team. Keep it up guys!"

"After a long search for a road bike I decided on my new Madone 4.7. I used to ride on the late 80s on a steel frame with shifters on the down tube, then I moved to MTB, and now I'm back on the road. The technology leap is incredible, the brake/shifters combo is unbelievably ergonomic and the bike is fast as hell! With my new bike I was able to knock down 4 minutes on my benchmark climb (6.5 km ride averaging 6.5%) thanks solely to the Madone. I was fearing the ride was going to be hard on my back, but I must say that the geometry really makes the ride comfortable, even much better than a MTB. Based on some posts, my other fear was the saddle. Even though my ride was short (40 km), I liked it. Certainly the bike make some heads to turn around!"
Pros:
"I just got back into triathlon after fifteen years. Was riding my old aluminum tri bike for the past year+ (should have seen the heads turn!). Huge upgrade to the Madone, wow, unbelievable!! At 50 I was looking for a little help in my training/race results. After just a few weeks my shorter rides are much faster and my longer rides are, well longer. Thank you, I love this bike!"
Pros:
"I have been a mountain biker for 20 years and decided after turning 40 this year that I should get out and "spin" on the road to slim up.... While the exercise it totally different than my mountain bike rides I have found a new love in road riding. The Mondone is lightweight, comfortable and fast. The carbon frame smooths out some of the rough roads in Maine that you inevitably end up on a 20+ mile ride. I have been pleased that as a big guy (6'2" 275 lbs) I have been able to average 20 mph over 20 miles. My plans are to get to 50 mile rides within a month. The bike has been very inspiring. I love being able to control my computer from the shift pods..."
Pros:
"After riding an mtb for the last 10 years I decide it was time to get back on the road. I rode an 80s era Popular aluminum crit bike for many years. However being 45 years old and having a heriated L5 disc I could not stand the HARSH ride any longer. After several trips to my LBS and multiple test rides I decided the Madone 4.7 was the best all around bike for my comfort and budget. I took my first ride today, 32 miles, and I am amazed with the rigidity and comfort. The saddle is a little hard but I will stick it out for now to see if it gets better. My new love is silky smooth and all my pedaling inputs went directly to forward motion with no flex or squeaks. The brakes are fantastic and the shifting is almost telepathic. She is very stable going down hill in full tuck. I backed off at 35 mph not because of the bike but because I haven't been at that speed on a bike in 20 years. I can't wait till tomorrow to take her out again. I'm not a racer but you could easily race this bike and be competitive. Thank you Joey at Dannys cycles for your help and patience."

"Awesome Product. This is my first Madone, but not my first road rocket. My road bikes were all Giant, but then I decided to make the switch and go carbon as well. Here in the Caribbean, amongst the Orbeas and Pinarellos, this bike stands out. It is a climber, it is stable at high speeds, and has great value.
Since getting the bike, I have already racked up a few hundred miles; my Trek 8500 mountain bike is becoming jealous.
I most definitely had to replace the saddle, after my first ride the paint, yes the paint was coming off. I replaced it with a Selle Italia Troy Lee Design, and replaced the hoops with Mavic Kyserium Elites. I was torn between the 4.7 and 5.2, and at the time the latter was out of my size, but in the end I am glad with the purchase. I am 5'6", and I weigh 130lbs. My 50cm frame was just the right fit, and is very responsive. Again, a great buy, and I am loving the country roads. Anyone interested should check with FreeWheelers Bicycles in St. Kitts; distributor of Trek and Mirraco Bikes."

"I've only had my 4.7 for several weeks now but what an impression its made! On my second ride I took it for ~70 miles around metro NYC incl NJ in a sponsored event. It handled the rough roads (and puddles) extremely well. When I pitted at the 50 mile mark the local bike techs supporting the event dropped everything (well not litterally) to check out the Madone..."way cool," "too much" etc. That didn't please the riders awaiting adjustment / repairs to their bikes. Great overall - a fantastic buy!"
Pros:
"I have just purchased a Madone 4.7 for my partner for his 40th Birthday as a suprise.I hope he likes it! Reading all the feed back here I'm sure I've made a good choice.
Thank you all for your input."
"This is my first road bike and my first new bike in almost a decade. Very light, great response, good geometry, comfortable bike, fast bike. Great components. White handlebar tape looks good, but is not practical."

"Bought this bike for fitness and to get into organized road rides. It is the most comfortable ride I've ever had pleasure to own. It's light and fast. Did a very quick 30 miles last night and could have easily done a whole century. All I can say is WOW."
