The Trek 7200 rocks.

★★★★☆
4.0

"I bought my Trek 7200 in 2007 and now have in excess of 16000 miles on it with very few problems. Tires, chain, brake pads and cassette gear is all I've had to change in all those miles. I ride it daily 18 miles (weather permitting) on both paved and gravel bike trails. The suspension fork is ready to be replaced. Anyone out there know where I can find one (RST CT Com 1)? I haven't found one on the internet yet. I wish this bike had been available back in the 1970s and 1980s when I used a Motobecane to ride RAGBRAI (the Des Moines Register Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa). Its a good machine at twice the price."

    Pros:

  • Durable,
  • Easy to make adjustments,
  • Great components,
  • Handles well off-road,
  • Lightweight

ABsolutely love it!!

"I just bought this bike today and I am in love!!! It's technically my first "real" bike as all of the others over the years have been cheapies (aka: [...]) Not that there's anything wrong with that. :) I test rode about 4 or 5 different bikes (styles etc.) and the minute I took this girl around the parking lot I knew that was it. I purchased the men's frame style (personal preference) because as a female I've never really understood the need for step through. The ride is smooth and comfortable and I'm already itching to get on that baby again!I plan to use it for commute purposes as well as recreational and I'm sure I've found my perfect match. I will go to sleep with a smile on my face and wake up sore tomorrow. Thank you Trek!!"

    Pros:

  • Durable,
  • Great components,
  • Lightweight

"LOL. my late wife insisted on a “ladies” bike although, as a real man, I explained that the men’s bikes are stronger and better for her.
Anyway, every time I see this argument, images of 1950s coeds on their bicycles come up. The fifties hair, skirts, white socks, the whole bit. Great!"

"Well, some of us still wear skirts while riding to work and would prefer to preserve our modesty. Not everyone has a spandex fetish.

Also, if you ever use your bike to actually haul stuff, you might find it hard to kick your leg over the back with a couple of bags of groceries attached."

"For the most part, women can kick higher then men, so a step through seems a completely useless design element - until you remember that modesty was the norm during the time that women wore skirts and rode bikes before there were cars. Some things are just never change."

Love my Trek 7200

★★★★★
5.0

"I went to BGI South a few months ago to look at bikes. I am 51 years old a little over weight a lot out of shape and have a bad lower back and neck!

Explaining my health problems and needs for improvement, the BGI sales person directed me right to the Trek 7200. He explained to me all the reasons why this bike over others would not only help me but be benificial to me in the future.

After shopping around and researching for about 2 months I went back to BGI South and bought the Trek. I "Love" this bike, actually I love everything about this bike! It's ease of use, the handeling, the comfort in the ride and the sit up style are just a few of the things I can and do brag about!

I would recommend this bike to anyone with neck and or back pain the shocks and seating are "perfect". Thanks to the BGI staff for their direction and knowledge in helping me select this bike, I am truely pleased!"

    Pros:

  • Durable,
  • Great components,
  • Handles well off-road,
  • Lightweight

Great bike love the Trek 7200

★★★★★
5.0

"I Purchase my Trek 7200(Hybrid) in august of 2007 and could not be happier with the decision.I am a 48 year old male and only rode my old bike (Schwinn super le tour mid 1980's)a few times a year prior to purchasing my Trek. I now ride 12 to 30 miles 3 to 4 times a week mostly through asphalt bike trails for exercise and recreation. The biggest thing i notice about the 7200 was the smoothness of the ride, bumbs that used to jar me now are little bumbs in the road. The bike has a lightweight aluminum frame which makes the bike light but the frame is still solid. Shifting of the 24 gears is smooth and quite and the brakes stop on a dime.I also would recommend adding the Trek incite 91 wireless odometer which has many features such as a total miles on bike, trip, temperature, and a timer function, and the great thing is you can even read the gauges in direct sunlight. If you are in the market to purchase a bike under $500.00 i would definitely recommend the Trek 7200."

    Pros:

  • Attractive,
  • Durable,
  • Great components,
  • Handles well,
  • Lightweight,
  • Smooth ride

Low Budget Commuter

★★★★☆

"I used the 7200 as the base for my low budget commuter. Added a rack and trunk, NR Headlight, Trek Flare 10 rear light, under seat bag w/rear light, Shimano pedals w/Bontrager MTB shoes, poly carbon fenders, Trek Incite computer.

Overall solid bike for the urban area I live in, bike paths are easy to ride on and the streets are no problem at all."

    Pros:

  • Durable,
  • Great components,
  • Handles well,
  • Smooth ride

Next best thing to a car...

★★★★☆
4.0

"I bought the 7200 to replace a 7100 that was stolen from me. I ride my bike around Tucson daily to and from work, etc. I put about 25 miles a day on it. I was very happy with the 7100 and expect even better results with the new 7200. So far the biggest thing I notice is the grip of the more aggresive tire. I tend to veer off the asphalt now and then so I feel like the 7200 will perform better off road than my old bike. TREK is a great bike no matter which one you choose. JUST BE SURE TO WEAR A HELMET AND ALWAYS LOCK YOUR BIKE."

    Pros:

  • Durable,
  • Lightweight,
  • Versatile

Does what I need and more!

"I bought this bike for excercise and to ride in a few yearly charity rides. It's comfortable and I like the front shock and seat post suspension. The shifting is very smooth and responsive. I'm averaging 50 miles per week after having the bike for only 3 months of use. For the price I believe I got a great value!"

    Pros:

  • Durable,
  • Great components

    Cons:

  • Heavy / bulky

Great Bike for Riding and Exercising

★★★★★
5.0

"Was riding a Raleigh hybrid for 11 years. I ride the Trek 7200 every other day for exercise (minimum 30 minutes) and much longer rides on the weekend (15 - 30 miles). Gear shifting is smooth especially in the lower gears and the front shocks provide a smooth ride. Would highly recommend the 7200 to anyone taking up bike riding for exercise or pleasure. I ride for both."

    Pros:

  • Durable,
  • Great components

Dependable tight bicycle

★★★★☆
4.0

"I had to switch from a road bicycle due to shoulder problems. With a switch in the standard handle bars that come with it, this Trek has been a great alternative. I can still do reasonable mileage without shoulder discomfort. It is heavier and slower than my road bicycle but the trade off is a less-stiff ride that is easier on the back, shoulders, and torso. The bicycle is easy to maintain and requires few adjustments. I am considering lighter tires in the future because I ride mainly on pavement. But the standard tires have performed well for the limited light off-road cycling I have done. Overall, it has performed better than I expected."

    Pros:

  • Durable,
  • Great components

    Cons:

  • Heavy / bulky

Great Bike for Baby Boomers

★★★★★
5.0

"I recently returned to biking at the age of 59, for fitness and weight control. I was impressed with the quality ride, smooth shifting, and responsive braking. I ride the Trek 7200 for 4-5 miles per session. It's a great work out. Baby boomers, time to get off the couch, and give this bike a test ride. You will be glad you did."

    Pros:

  • Durable,
  • Great components,
  • Lightweight,
  • Smooth ride
