"In all honesty, Five Ten could not have done a better job in developing the perfect riding shoe.
As soon as you open the box, you will be impressed. The shoes fit like a glove, and mold perfectly to your feet. The sticky rubber sole is in fact, sticky. Go figure! They might feel too sticky on your first ride, but don't be worried. Like a fine bottle of wine, it will only get better with time, and a short break in period.
Don't walk around on your kitchen floor when these are new. Little black skuff marks seem common when new, and you might have some explaining to do to your wife, mother, etc.!"

Cons:
"I wish these shoes had velcro, rather than laces, and the sole could be a bit stiffer. Otherwise, they are perfection. They totally stick to the pins on my platform pedals and give amazing amounts of grip. Plus, they are light and comfortable. Outstanding."

"I have used the 5.10 Impact for three years. I am a Professional Mountainbiker, and I wouldn't be able to do my job without them. A single pair can last you for everyday use for over two years. I live in the Pacific Northwest and subject these kicks to some of the nasties conditions possible, and they keep on ticking. They are durable enough to be washed with a hose after every muddy ride. The Stealth rubber used on the sole will stick to any pedal on the market. The Impact actually works for Cross Country so well I have hung my clipless shoes and pedals up permanently.
5.10 has really hit the nail on the head with this model. Wether you be a recreational cyclist, to an avid competitor, to a commuter these are the shoes for you."
Pros:
"Initally I was sceptical - why are these any better than the approach shoes I already wear to ride in? Surely stealth rubber isn't going to make that much difference?
Well, it turns out that I was wrong. The sticky rubber sole on the 5.10 Impact is awesome - once you plant your feet on your pedals they stay there - and leave no question that flat pedals are the way forward! You can jump, drop and tackle technical climbs and descents confidently, as you know that your pedals won't be taking a bite out of your shins!
The low cut allows your ankle to flex and so are ideal for XC pedalling. They are also well padded, which while it does mean they take a little while to dry out from a muddy ride it also gives a great snug fit that feels comfortable from the outset.
Once you ride with these there is no going back!"
Pros:
"These shoes really are as good as everyone says. A huge advantage over skate shoes is the stiffness of the mid-sole and stickiness of the outsole. It's a great combination. Obviously, they aren't as stiff and efficient as carbon soled SPD-style shoes. The trade-off is that these shoes are easy to walk in and live with. The big down side is that these things are UGLY! I mean, not just a little, but crazy ugly. The aforementioned cycling specific shoes look silly, but they are so obviously activity specific that it somewhat neutralizes their look. These 5.10s are close enough to normal shoes (no velcro or weird colors) that they just look somewhat like mailman shoes or something. Why couldn't the designers at 5.10 look at the hundreds of skate shoes that are out there and take some notes?"

Cons:
"These are hands-down the best shoes on the market for racing/riding with flat pedals. As cleats are to soccer, 5.10's are to mountain biking. From the recreational riding enthusiasts to the factory pros, these are the shoes you want to be wearing as you sit in the start gate or the run-in of new a jump. Traction on the pins is intense, like being clipped in, but having the option to drop a foot at a moments notice. They are also super tough, as mine are still going strong after a full season of racing (20 races, every weekend from June to October). More than just biking, they make great all around shoes from grocery getting to hiking. Bottom line, 5.10 shoes are the first piece of new equipment every rider should have in 2009."
Pros:
"I use my Five Ten Impact II Low-tops for everything. I work at a bike shop as a mechanic so I'm standing 8+ hours a day and the comfort in these shoes really helps. I also use them for riding/racing downhill as well as dirt jumping, trail riding, and even road riding (I think I am one of the only people with flat pedals on a road bike!). The traction on the pedals is hands down the best in the industry. The Stealth rubber compound is amazing! As long as you have some thinner pedals it is near impossible to slip a pedal (even in sloppy mud conditions). The only con that I can think of is that maybe the shoes grip too good with certain pedal combinations."
Pros:
Cons:
"These are my favorite and the most excellent shoes I have ever had the pleasure of wearing. They immediately became an absolute necessity, because of the amazing performance gains over any other shoe out there. They offer unbelievable grip on platform pedals and despite the friction they generate they do not tear up or wear out at an unreasonable rate. The last me over a season, and this is coming from a semipro racer who rides several times a week and races nearly every weekend April to October. buy them for riding bikes and you will love the fit and the feel so much you will want another pair for hiking, bouldering and just messing around."
Pros:
"the five ten impact is simply the best shoe out there.I have been racing the world cup circuit for 3 seasons now, and there is on question that the shoes give me the confidence on the steepest and rouhghest
of track because im always able to keep my feet on the pedals.I also relly like the new shoes because the leather protects your feet from getting wet which is important, and it makes them a lot easier to clean and dry ready for the next training session."

"These shoes work great for flat pedals and equally for everyday life. They do leave black marks on some flooring. I have had these shoes for a year and commute 15 miles round trip daily on my bicycle. The soles are completely worn at the balls of my feet. Holes in the soles, but uppers still in great shape. Expensive for a once a year purchase but perhaps worth it."
