"Helmet is too small. Both my husband and I ordered our respective size and our head was being squeezed before the rear adjustment. Order 1 size larger...." Read Full Review
Pros:
"Great italian quality you won't find with any other helmet that is sent to China for manufacturing. All the little details are well worth the extra price tag. An exotic helmet and a great price at Sierra Trading! Fit is great and an almost infinate amount of adjustments will probably fit most heads. Great look and feel and highly recommended!!"
Pros:
"This is my second Squalo; my first is an older model (2007?). It's a great helmet -- very light and comfortable with good ventilation. The newer model adds LAS logos to the chin straps and inside the liner, includes an odd (but removable) chin pad, and comes with a spare liner (which is a nice touch -- I've never seen a liner for sale here, in Europe, or on the LAS web site).
This helmet seems to fit best on heads that are slightly oval, as opposed to round. If you prefer Giro or Bell, it may not work for you. But if Specialized helmets fit you, this one may work."
Pros:
"I was a bit concerned about the sizing since my Kripton was one size fits all. I am just shy of 59cm and the S/M fits perfect, I actually have room to wear a light beanie in the winter. Didn't care for the off set buckle and chin pad but it was quickly adjusted during the fit process to center the buckle and discard the chin pad. Quality lining, soft strap, easy adjustments and very light weight not to mention great Italian styling and good venting. I should buy another."
Pros:
"Been looking for a replacement for my Specialized helmet. I have long hair and don't want to fumble with a place for it, it's a girl thing. The Squalo helmet is the easiest helmet to fit out of the box. Except for the center piece on the back-of-head adjustment, it slides up and down so you have nice snug fit at the occipital area...but that means I either have to don pig-tails or wear my hair down ALL THE TIME. The two season pads are a great idea, Red for summer and Grey for Fall/Winter. The summer one is still too heavy for AZ summers, but a pair of scissors can sort that out quickly.
I ordered the Anthracite one, nice metallic color to go with my raw carbon fiber bike. Did not like how wide this helmet is, and that it's a whopping 270 grams! I am used to 230 grams. I am exchanging this one for the lighter weight LAS Victory, hope it's as comfy and more compact than the Squalo.
Overall LAS makes an excellent product and it really is worth every penny to buy Italian!"

Cons:
"I haven't owned too many helmets, but this one fits like nothing else I've ever tried on before. I previously had an older bell x-ray and it pales in comparison to this beautiful, lightweight, great fitting helmet!!!! I was a bit worried about what size I should order but the small/medium fits perfect. My head measures 57cm and
59 1/2 with a cap on. You won't be disappointed!"
Pros:
Cons:
"Fit and adjustment are top notch. I easily got it to fit snuggly, with no looseness when I shake my head. The fact that the padding covers the whole interior of the helmet, rather than a few strips, makes it feel very secure. The full exterior wrap keeps the foam from getting dinged up, so this helmet should hold up well.
My pet peeve with most helmets is that the pads wear out first, and full replacement sets are usually non-existent. (My Bell helmets have come with a few replacement pads, but not the whole set.) This comes with a whole helmet pad that can reportedly be removed and washed, as well as a 2nd "winter" pad.
My other complaint is that most helmets are basically made from exactly the same materials, so why does pricing run from $30-$300? I snagged this for a two digit price on sale, so I do not feel too bad about the high cost. I expect this helmet to last a long time - I hope I do not have to find out if it is crashworthy."
Pros:
Cons:
"Fantastic helmet - perfect fit (especially for my oval head), good ventilation. Very light given the quality construction and solid exterior (yea!). Secure & comfortable fit. Full interior lining is outstanding - especially since LAS provides both summer and winter versions. Even the strap system is thoughtfully done, including a chin pad. Very well designed - this is the best helmet I've seen at any price.
NOTE RE FIT I'm a 58cm and tried both S/M and L/XL sizes... if like me you could go either way, go for the L/XL. The S/M shell size just perched on top of my head, the L/XL shell gave much more coverage and a better overall fit - well within the available adjustment. Better protection too, and room for a liner when winter comes..."
Pros:
"The LAS Squalo helmet has been decribed to me as aggro, and ventilated. I felt that aggro was an unnecessary term. The helmet will definitely turn heads. It looks different than most other helmets I've worn. Instead of sleak open vents, the vents seem angular and remind me of air-intake scoops on cars and jets.
It seems a tad bulky to me, so I would tend to lean toward an MTB application, though I'm most certain that the pro-tour has it's share of LAS helmets in the pelaton.
It could be better ventilated. I have some experience with super-vented helmets (e.g. Giro Atmos) and it doesn't vent as well as that helmet. The helmet, however, has a much better fit, and a more versatile set of pads (both winter and summer). I am excited to wear this helmet some more."
Pros:
Cons:
"From the first moment you get this, when you take this out of the box and try it on, this helmet looks and feels like the premium product it is.
It's light, incredibly sturdy, the 29 vents prvodie plenty of ventilation, and it has an incredbily comfortable, removable, washable liner. I am guessing that as we move into warmer months with temps consistenly above 75/80 the helmet will feel a little bit hotter on my head (not more than it should, but maybe more than some competitors).
It sits great on your head and the adjustment mechanism is easy to use. On long rides I often adjust the helmet with 1 hand without any problem at all.
Even the strap has an extra feature, a little sweat-absorbing band that fits right under your chin.
Truly, a 1-st class product."
