"About a year ago I got into the sport of triathlon, and I wanted to get an entry level bike to make sure I really like and not to spend too much. This bike is perfect for newbies or casual riding. I'm getting a tri-bike soon and upgrading. But it is an awesome entry-level bike. Nothing bad to say about it except the seat is uncomfortable...." Read Full Review

"I got a Cypress DX last year and love riding it on the I&M Canal State trail. I wondered what it would be like to do some road riding. I bought a Defy 3 and cannot stop riding it. I love everything about it. Granted, I just got it but have been riding it everyday and love it. It is very comfortable. I cannot believe how comfortable. My hands do not go numb and my butt does not get sore from the stock seat. It is very smooth riding and very quiet as well. I would totally recommend this bike to anyone who is looking to get some exercise and cruise the roads on a road bike without having to spend a lot of money. I love Giant bikes that is why I own two. Very very pleased. [...]"
Pros:
"After riding a Giant FCR 3 for two years, I decided to upgrade my cycling to more of a true road bike. Because I'm still new to road cycling, I decided to get an entry level bike. I wanted to stay with Giant because you get more bang for your buck AND that their products have improved tremendously-mainly in their R&D of bike technology. What's great about the Defy 3 is the fact that its a great entry level road bike. It shifts really smooth and the components that make the frame is strong AND extremely lightweight. At 200 lbs. of muscle and at 5'7", using a small frame works great for my size PLUS the frame is extremely strong in holding my weight. This is a great bike although the seat felt a little hard for me so I might change it to a better saddle. Overall, the bike's pros outweighs it's cons."

"I just started getting back into cycling after a 14 year break. I wanted to get a nice road bike to enjoy 3-4 days a week. I have enjoyed every aspect of this bike. Very smooth and responsive. I rave about this bike every time someone asks. I think this is the best value out there."
Pros:
"Great service at Jones Bicycles by the way and the selection they carry is overwhelmingly exciting.I recently purchased my first new bike and shopped around town for the best deals and quality. I found Giant's 09 Defy 3 men's road bike. The guys at the shop let me test ride it along the beach and it ran surprisingly smooth and the steering felt responsive. The components for the bicycle are basic, but during performance peak the bicycle handles aggressively."
Pros:
"I just got this bike as a present for christmas from my girlfriend. It's my first road bike and I have enjoyed it so much. I have put about 200 miles on the bike so far and have had no problems. I would recommend this bike for anyone starting out or just looking for a nice bike."
Pros:
"I took the bike for a 9.6 mile spin the first day
and found the bike will be a pleasure to ride. I
look forward to many more miles to come."

Cons:
"I am not a advanced rider and I just changed from mtn. bikes to road bikes.. but the defy 3 is a great bike.. in the first two days I put 70 milrs on the machine and just loved it!! I am a big man who just lost 100lbs. (thanks to this sport) and at 240 lbs. this bike still responds to my every need. A 10 speed would be nice and a better seat too. But I love this thing, thanks to your guys at the temecula shop... I do plan to do a 100 mile ride soon. BTW this thing kills hills.. which is what we have hear in the temecula area."
Pros:
Cons:
"This was my first road bike. Hands down, the best beginners ride; a definite incentive to take on more miles. 5 months after the purchase, my odometer read over 1000 miles and it still handled like the first day I got it. Only heads up on it is the quality of the component group which was definitely compromised on this bike; on the other hand, the overall effectiveness of it's design completely made up for it. Not to mention aesthetics. The frame design definitely pairs well next to all the higher end carbon bikes at your weekend rides and/or triathlons."
Pros:
Cons:
"I have owned this bike for about 3 weeks now ... WHAT A RIDE. I love this bike. Responsive, quick, smooth shifting, gear ratio good for climbing hills (at least the ones in my neck of the woods). There has been a bit of a "learning curve" as the shifting mechanism is different, but, that is a user problem NOT bicycle. Only drawback if you could call it that is the seat. That may just be because I've switched from a mountain to a road bike *AND* I need better bicycle shorts. I'm comfortable on this bike so much so that; when I switched back to the mountain bike for a ride with my wife, I found riding it almost painful. I don't think I'll ever ride the mountain bike again unless I'm on a trail that requires/demands it's use. I am using this bike as for training and exercise mostly. I have no reservations about using it as a commuter or a grocery getter if the opportunity presents itself. I am planning on attempting a century ride this year, this will be the bike I ride."
