"The trainer itself is great, easy to setup and use. Unfortunately it has a design flaw in that it uses plastic threading to hold a threaded steel bolt in place. Since it is load and vibration bearing the plastic wears out quickly and the trainer becomes useless as their is too much shaft play. This problem just accelerates exponentially. "This is my first trainer, and I love it! The base is very stable, even when I stand up and do sprints. It is easy to take the bike on and off, about 1 minute and I'm out riding my bike on the street. The resistance is good but it is more difficult than riding on the road (good for training in my opinion). I also like how you adjust the resistance by adjusting the gears... good variation of resistance. Overall I've had this trainer for a few months and I am very happy with it. It allows me to train when it's just too windy out or at night."
Pros:
"The trainer itself is great, easy to setup and use. Unfortunately it has a design flaw in that it uses plastic threading to hold a threaded steel bolt in place. Since it is load and vibration bearing the plastic wears out quickly and the trainer becomes useless as their is too much shaft play. This problem just accelerates exponentially. Had a similar issue on the other side as well, as the tolerances were set too wide, resulting in shaft play on that side as well.
If these two issues were fixed this would be a great trainer for the money. Moderate noise, very similar to riding on a country road."

Cons:
"I purchased this trainer last September and used it twice a week all winter at 30 min. sessions. Easy to set up and I didn't experience any problems using it at all. The frame is made of heavy gauge steel and seems well constructed. However, it would need a larger flywheel to help smooth out the pedal stroke a little, but otherwise, it works great. This unit folds flat enough to slide under the bed when not in use."
Pros:
"The trainer is reasonably quiet, so I can easily hear the television while riding. It's easy to set up and even folds, so I can put it out of the way behind a bookcase. The price was right (on sale) for my needs. I intend to use it to hop on and off my Specialized Sirrus whenever I want, so I can stay active through the winter and while watching television."
Pros:
"I was looking for something to use during the winter months to keep in shape and be ready to ride for the spring. I purchased the Ascent Trainer for that particular reason. I couldn't be more satisfied. It is a great workout and the levels of difficulty can be adjusted. The only setback is that it is loud. Make sure when you purchase the trainer you also buy trainer tires and a mat. Mountain Bike tires are not meant to be used for the trainer they will wear quickly."
Pros:
"I recently started using this model and was surprised at some of the negative comments other reviewers left. Specifically, those comments about an "egg shape" pedal feeling, the overly tight adjusting screws, and the unit being "noisy." As to the egg shape pedaling motion, it's true to an extent -however that's a normal part of nearly all home trainers. Since there is no large heavy flywheel (as in gym pedal machines) these home units force you to perfect your "making circles" form (actually a benefit) as you would if climbing an actual road uphill (and care about your form while doing so for efficiency's sake). Clip in and focus! As to the unit being "noisy", it's pretty quiet actually. Much quieter than most trainers I have used or been around (many). Put in your ear buds and enjoy some tasty noises. And as to the "difficult to adjust" hand screws -I think that guy got a defective unit. Mine is easy and quick to adjust. Overall a solid, smooth trainer, and a great buy, especially on sale as it is as I write this. Mine is young so I can't comment on the lifespan yet. Happy so far!"
Pros:
"I bought this unit to be able to train in the winter. I have a Haro Extreme mountain bike that I usually ride one hour per day, weather permitting. It was a cinch to mount the bike on the trainer. I found this unit to be will built and very stable. I would suggest installing two 2 x 6's under the front wheel to level the bike, but I would expect to do this with any trainer. This unit is well worth the money."
Pros:
"I like the trainer, it workled well in the off season for daily use however it wore out at the end of the off season (fly wheel started making horrible grinding noises)"
Pros:
"this is my first trainer i was told it was adjustable but it is not. but changing gears solves that issue. it is very easy to set up and i use it about 90 minutes a day early morning and at night. its fairly quiet. and i am able to watch tv while riding. (i blew a disk in my back so being able to pedal while sitting straight up is a plus....i even played my xbox while riding0 i love this trainer, but i will soon be upgrading and i will give this one to my wife i want one that has courses."
